For a perfectly fitting highneck or v-neck, correctly and accurately measuring yourself is important as well. Here's how you can do it:

1. Measure The Shoulder Width - Stand in a relaxed, natural posture and measure the width of your shoulders from the beginning of one shoulder to the end of the other. Make sure that you arch it across your shoulder, and not straight across your back.

2. Measure The Chest/Bust - Take a measuring tape and place it around the chest or bust carefully wearing minimal clothes, measuring the widest area of the chest. You can choose to have a partner to help you for an easier measurement. If you want a more loose-fit coat, add in an inch or two of the measurement.

3. Measure The Waist - Start at the top of your hip bone, then bring the measuring tape all the way around your body, level with your belly button. Make sure it's not too tight and that it's straight, even at the back. Don't hold your breath while measuring. Check the measurement right after you exhale.

4. Measure The Hips - Measure the circumference of your hips. Start at one hip and wrap the measuring tape around your rear, around the other hip, and back to where you started. Make sure the tape is over the largest part of your buttocks.

5. Measure The Sleeves - Relax your body and your hands and keep them straight down your waist. By placing the tip of measuring tape on your shoulder, drag it till the end to your wrist. The measurement that you get is how long your coat sleeve should be.
